The big day may have come and gone, but keep in touch as we’re always up to something new and exciting.
Every day, the United States continues to face the devastating public health crisis of gun violence. Amplifying the voices of survivors of gun violence is one of the ways in which Phyllis Peterson and The Aramis Peterson Foundation is making a difference in our communities.
Aaden Peterson, a.k.a. Juicy, is the son of Aramis Peterson, who was murdered near Clark-Atlanta University. Aaden was waiting in the car and witnessed his father's murder.
Today, he stands strong and with a loving leadership attitude. He speaks to others about how he copes with his trauma. Everyone loves Juicy; he gets his popular positive traits from his father, Aramis.
Before this senseless tragedy my sense of purpose was making sure my sons had what they needed to become successful human beings. My purpose has now shifted, and I am looking beyond my own tragedies. Unexplainable and senseless tragedies will definitely keep happening if I don’t continue to speak openly about my experiences and work towards ending gun violence in our communities. My life’s new mission is to make sure we integrate common-sense solutions into our existing gun laws and fight to eradicate black-on-black crimes. I have created the Aramis Peterson Foundation to support community advocacy and to be a platform for social justice that extends beyond laws. We are working continuously to make sure that all people’s lives are valued and defended in the way our Constitution intended.
